Case 1: QRI Team Stabilizes Production Decline

A major offshore field’s production was in a rapid state of decline.

QRI identified the major causes of declines in production and implemented remedies that substantially reduced the decline rate. This included successfully applying mud cap drilling to two pilot wells. Parametric modeling was also used to determine that the decline could be stopped and gravity-drainage was sufficient to support production.

Case 2: QRI Team Reverses Production Decline

A super giant oil field was in mid-life and undergoing nitrogen injection which rapidly increased and peaked production at 2 million barrels per day. Production declined rapidly after that, and a major effort was undertaken to mitigate and reverse field production decline which had been accelerating with an average decline rate of 35%.

QRI was brought in to assess the field and determined that better reservoir management practices were needed. The field is a fractured carbonate reservoir with a gross thickness of 3,000+ ft that was originally deposited in relatively deep shelf water during the Cretaceous period. QRI-mandated reservoir management practices produced rapid improvements in field performance as evidenced by arrest of production decline, reversal in excess gas production, and stabilization of reservoir pressures.
