Zarrow Centennial Professor of Petroleum Engineering of the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering, University of Texas (UT Austin)
Dr. Carlos Torres-Verdín has been with the Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering of The University of Texas at Austin since 1999, where he is full professor and currently holds the position of Zarrow Centennial Professorship in Petroleum Engineering. Dr. Torres-Verdín conducts research on borehole geophysics, formation evaluation, well logging, and integrated reservoir characterization. He is the founder and director of The University of Texas at Austin’s Joint Industry Research Consortium on Formation Evaluation. Dr. Torres-Verdín was awarded the 2014 Gold Medal for Technical Achievement Award by the Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA), the highest distinction bestowed by the SPWLA for technical contributions in the discipline of Formation Evaluation. He has published more than 120 articles in technical journals, over 130 articles in international conferences, and two book chapters. He is co-author of two US patents.
